My son has come home and given up his druggie life style. My daughter is healthy except for a damaged ankel on her left foot. I have pictures to share finally. Here are my dogs. Jester the black pug on the left is holding his Christmas present in his mouth as he sleeps. Bandit on the Right is my fawn pug ( less than 1 year old) sleeping on the back of the couch like a cat. They do bring great joy into my life. Well that is all for now. I have another pic to post in a couple of days.

Coming out of the Wiccan Closet

Ok here is how it has gone this morning. Wait up feeling better, watch tv, on twitter responding to condolences on my Uncle Walt's Passing. For no appartent reason I get up from my couch and go over to start folding my daughters laudry that had some household towels in it.

Just finished folding one towel, then I hear a mechanial voice coming from a box of grandson's ( 1 yr old boy) toys on the floor next to where I am standing. It says "Give me a drink" then "GET OUT". I look over and the little pull along doggie is face up in the box, and the dang toy keeps saying over and over "GIVE ME A DRINK" then a second later "GET OUT". Now I know that somehow the toys shifted and made the Elmo play phone turn on.

Hubby and I laught about it. I take the play phone and put it in the kitchen.

I am sitting here rembering that the last thing I spoke to my Uncle Walt was a premonition of his death. Of course, as all precognitions come, there is never a certain time you are positive about, epsically with family. It was my Daughter's precog dream and was to the date and minute only 2 years out from the predication.

Hubby had gone to bathroom , didn't know why , so I was in the front room alone, with the dogs
when this hugh gust of wind blows this 6 month old top of the line steel security door open fully.

A little aside here, I have Fibromyagia and not supposed to get cold, as no blood flow to ears, nose, fingers and toes, been this way since I was 30 and now I am 52. The wind is not only gusting strong, but very very cold.

So I go to close the door and see two peices of mail, junk mail, stuck to the conceret floor of the porch. I step out and pull the door closed so that the dogs don't come out. And then find out it is locked. Hubby is only person awake in house and he is taking a shower and could not hear me call for help or knock on door because the dogs are barking so frantically.

I know this seems like a bunch of random acts all fully explained away, but knowing my Uncle Walt, my anger and outright digust with my fathers side of the family, his and my father and mothers love of drinking, I am sure it is him giving me hell for not speaking to him or caring enough to call and check on them.

Ok that is all for now. Will be posting more as it happens.
Tanglust The Good Witch in West Baltimore.

Norad Santa Tracker

www.tractor.tv/find-santa/

Thanksgiving Day 2008

been up since 2:30 am for no good reason. Been making pumpkin bread and have promised on twitter to post the recipe so here it is.

Heat oven to 350 degrees grease bottom only of two loaf pans.

Ingredients

2/3 cups shortening
2 2/3 cups sugar
4 eggs
1 16 ounce of pure pumpkin
2/3 cup of water

Dry Ingredients
3 1/3 cup of flour
2 teaspoons of baking powder
1 1/2 cups of salt
1 teaspoon of ground cinnamon
1 teaspoon of ground cloves
2/3 cup coarsely chopped walnuts
2/3 raisins

Cream shortening and sugar till well blended. Add all wet ingredients and mix till all well blended. In a gallon size zipper type baggie add all dry ingredients except for nuts and raisins.
Turn bag upside down and all around till dry ingredients are all mixed up thoroughly. Cut a corner of the baggie off - about 1/2 inch wide. Slowly add dry ingredients through hole in corner of bag a little bit at a time until the dry is well mixed in with the wet, continue this process until all dry ingredients are well mixed and no lumps in the mixture.

Now add nuts and raisins folded in by hand.

Fill your loaf pans 2/3 rds full and pop into oven for 1 hour and 10 minutes. Checking with a toothpick to see if they are done. To use toothpick, open oven door, with oven mitts pull out the shelf and stick the toothpick into the middle of the loaf. If it comes out perfectly clean your pumpkin bread is done.

Enjoy your pumpkin bread.

New Crochet Hat Contest

Sunday November 23rd. I could not decide what to work on, and I cannot keep my hands unbusy. So I found this hat I started to crochet earlier in the month and finished it. I love that it goes down way far in the back with the soft yarn to stop the wind from going down my back and that it covers my ears with the same soft yarn. I still have to find "something" to put on the top. Can you give me an idea? If u give me one that I use I will either make a hat for u or make a scarf for you free of charge. Pattern by Cat Bordhi, yarn from sock club at Celtic Knots Yarn shop, and is the Valentine 2009 colorway. I will attempt to get a pic of them on my feet either before or after going to dr's this afternoon. Gotta go eat something my stomach is rumbling. All drugged up but still added a few things to my blog. You can now chat with me while you are on my blog - just scroll down to the bottom of the page.

Also you should take a look at the fairy of the day by scrolling down past the chat.

I am in the process of crocheting a hat with an earflap. Will need someone to take pics for me as I s**k at taking photographs. Have a podcast that just download to get some help in that area.

I will be writing a poem a day in the month of November - it is my NAMO attempt as I cannot write fiction to save the world. But might go to the website and join and write trash so I can at least be writing.

Hope everyone has a good day

Oh and the repair man is here for the fridge hope he figures it out or gets me a new one. I can't take this not having a reliable fridge yuck.

On a pleasant note got the knitting mag from my friend Steve in England today with a Sock Calander so looking forward to knitting at least one pair of socks per month in 2008

Halloween

Here are pictures of 6 of 9 glowing skulls made for Granddaughter's Halloween Party. The scan came out with no where near the bright orange color I used behind the eyes. I attempted to color in the eyes in the first one to give an example of how they look in person.

I think I need to block them before the party lol. I have been sick with sinus, gum infections and the beginnings of bronchitis. Rotten cold has me and hubby down all week. But we are not the only ones, seems the school bus for preschool is almost empty this week.

I have also been working hard on a caridgan for my hubby, made with tweed pine green icelandic wool called Lopi - using the "Smokin" pattern from "Son of a Stitch and Bitch" pretty easy pattern mostly stockinette stitch using size 10 circular needles. Goes pretty fast, and is basically mindless. I have 15 out of 18 inches done for a size XL and have used 4 skeins of Lopi so far. When I reach the 18 inches I set it aside and use size 10 double pointed needles to do the sleeves. That will take some concentration-hope I feel better by the time I get there.

Otherwise things are going ok here. We are hanging on in these hard times. The weather is turning colder and I am hurting much worse now. Thank God for pain killers. I am sad to say that the owner of my favorite yarn shop "The Celtic Knot Yarn Shop" in Ellicot City is up for sale. I hope someone buys it, but even so it will never be the same without Carole and crew. I love them all and as a Taurus have a hard time with change anyway.

On other topics - I am pursuing getting 100 percent compensation from The VA. I am currently getting 30 percent due to Reynaud's and now have Fibromyalgia. Started by filling out the form to get back into the VA Hospital Medical Center. Hoping to hear a reply soon.

Well that is all for now. I have not written this much in a long time. Please leave a comment, they so brighten my days. :-)

last night at LYS new pic of me

Trying New Stitches

Here is my latest attempt. My scooter was without a battery for most of the summer-so I have only sat outside in the back a couple of times. Otherwise I have been in the house listening to podcasts and audible.com books.

Here is one sock that I have done using circular needles and general sock instruction from Socks Soar on Two Circular Needles by Cat Bordhi

I also am working on a toe up sock using Tofutsie and grabbing instructions as needed from different socks in the same book.

This one is at the gusset stage with two rows of heel stitch ( sl k1) between the HOMEMADE stitch markers

Here is my greastest accomplishment - I taught myself to use one circular needle for two socks at a time, again done toe up. This is the Leaf and Tendril Sock from the same book by Cat Bordhi. The yarn is from Storm Moon Knits and from the Celtic Knot Yarn shop where I belong to the sock club. But the noise level here with the dogs and the kids has been very high.

I tried to take a picture of the elephant that I crocheted but the flash did not work. So I have the manual for the digital camera, but now alas camera is no where to be seen. Se la Vie!

Starting last night my computer went nuts and would not allow Yahoo Instant Messenger , Mozilla Firefox, or IE to load. So shortly after David got home I called Dell Technical Support. And after 1 hour wahla! Secret Pal Puffy Recieved

I got my secret pal exchange for the no sheep for ewe exchange. My secret pal sent two different skeins . The first is FFF one yarn a thousand sensations Panache. I felt this yarn sooooooo soft and prettty before I read the label this is 100% nylon.38 yards. Unbelievable. this will be a hat for my soon to be 4 year old granddaughter. I'll try to take pics tonight. Very varigated nice colors can't wait to knit it up. The second is from Artful Yarns Balett 45% nylon, 35% acrylic 20% cotton. 71 yards. Nice sky blue with gold so pretty. I think these will be a pair of fingerless gloves for ME. Yes this year I am knitting some things for ME. My secret pal said she couldn't decided on the more subtle yarn or the more fun yarn. I LOVE BOTH!~!! Thank you sooo much. I will be sending to my downstream secret pal on June 30. I explained on email I could not get out until then and she said she was so busy it was not a problem. This is a great exchange.

On another note, I am working on textured tank from June Knit 'N Style. Finished the back, now working on the front. Nice patterns easy repeats even for me lol. I'll post a pic when I am finished.

Working on the next poem in the day of a life with fibromyalgia, should be up later this week.

Hubby will be home all week next week. So good for him to relax. We are watching an old abbot and costello film. Great fun. When I find the blanket that I have finished in this mess that I live in I'll post the picture of that.

I just can't seem to concentrate this month has been insane!
I thought that I had stopped all my exchanges from AtMyHouse but I guess in one of my foggy times I stopped all others and signed up for a 12" square! What was I thinking? I just don't know I have socks to knit, two layettes and a lap blanket for my hubby. I don't have time for exchanges. And my partner wants white and pink I don't ever use these colors except for babies. So I am making a dreamcatcher 12" in rose and oatmeal. That is all I have and of course no money!!!

My big spend this last month was 2 big balls of white baffalo which is a scared animal for my family. I have to figure out what I am doing with this.

I invited an old friend last night. It has been 3 years since I have been in my shell with depression from epstien barre and fibroymalagia. I can't spell anymore anyway.

Well have been wish shopping for those who are interested my birthday is coming up on the 25th of April.

I am listening to lyme and violet podcasts while knitting this week they make me laugh so much. Well during one of their shows 29 i think they gave this link
http://www.etsy.com/view_listing.php?listing_id=5641591

of pug dogs stitch holders - I want them in black of course cause my pug is black.

I bought some knitpicks circulars for socks and the book Socks Soar on Two Circular Needles by Cat Bordhi. If anyone has this book how in hades do you do the book marks on the back cover????? They are just soooooooooo cute.

Well enough for now. Have pics to take and a sock to finish and have to take Bri Bri to bowling today at 1 pm. Thank God I don't have to take a painpill today!!. I promise I'll post some links and pics over the weekend.

what kind of knitter am I quiz result

What Kind of Knitter Are You?

You appear to be a Knitting Purist. I used peaches and cream in hot pink and I really love this design.

I cannot go out into the cold and ice, we are iced in today. So I have emailed all my exchange leaders and let them know I will not be able to get out to the UPS store and the post office until Friday.

I love doing the exchanges at the yahoo group AtMyHouse, the people are all sooo nice and getting the packages to me brings me as much pleasure as hearing that the people I send to love what I do.

Today is a bad hurting day. Can't do much knitting, but am crocheting some heart shaped coasters for my house as they are so easy and so very pretty.
These are designed by Julie A. Bolduc and are called Valentine Coasters.
We are all home today (everything is closed in Baltimore and DC) so we are watching the Westminister Dog Show - we recorded it with dvr using Comcast Digital TV.

I have not eaten yet, got up around 10. Oh not true, DH gave me a nestle's crunch ice cream bar which I scarfed right down. Now I have to go make a sandwich.

Jester - My pug got neutered on Saturday - and I have to give him antibotics twice a day. So while making my sandwich I'll have to look for a goodie to hide it in for him. Forcing it done his throat has gotten me several deep scratches on my hands - so I have learned just give him the treat lol.

I got a couple of books for Annies attic, and of course I cannot find it right now. It is the afgan crochet book with an afgan for every season. On Saturday MDH let me buy the yarn and I am going to work on the first motif to night. It has a rose in the center , stems and leaves and a rosebud on one of the stems in the middle of each square, the background square color is off white. I choose oatmeal.

More on that later.
I guess that is all I have to say today.
Will try to post daily

Linda in Baltimore

Things on the needles

Currently I am working on the First part of Feburary Dishcloth and the Afgan square on a size eight circular ( Joann's didn't have any 7's :-( ). I sure hope she likes it. I will be making one up for myself because it is just sooooooo soft.

Holly Socks Done

I was making these for my son to give to his bride to be for valentines day. I wound up grafting the toes just as she pulled up. Thank God they are done, I just do not work well under pressure anymore. The left sock I did first, and my fibromyalgia fog kicked in and I didn't carry the pattern all the way down the leg. But I am sure she will love them anyway.

I used wool from Italy and I can't find the paper so I don't remember what brand.
